Canopy tarps refer to shelters, which have frames and tarps like poly tarps as top covering. There are many types of canopies in the market these days. The common ones are garden canopies, pop-up canopies and carports. A canopy tarp can make a good temporary or permanent shade depending on its type. Nowadays, it is possible to purchase a do-it-yourself canopy kit online.
You can use pop-up canopies for parties at your house or even on the beach. Another type of canopy tarp, garden canopy is usually used to shelter garden plants, which can grow with low light. Since a mesh tarp allows some light to pass through it, it is commonly used as a cover for a garden canopy. Generally, tarps are sold as heavy, super duty or medium ones depending on the thickness.
Normally, a medium tarpaulin is around six mils in thickness. It is followed by a heavy duty, which has a thickness range of 11-12 mils. The thickest tarp is the super heavy-duty one, which has a thickness of 23 mils. Normally, a medium tarpaulin is suitable as a temporary shelter. For permanent shelter of 3 months or more, a heavy or super heavy-duty tarpaulin is appropriate.
To put it briefly, canopy tarps can be used as temporary or permanent shelters. Pop-up canopies, garden canopies and carports are common types of such tarps. You can take your pick from different colors, sizes, tarp weights and types in the market. Medium tarpaulin is recommended for temporary shelter. Heavy or super heavy duty one is suitable for permanent shelter.
